Matt Davies has been working full time as a freelance writer and editor since 2006, establishing The Word Guy in 2010. Before freelancing, Matt worked as a senior communications consultant in the Victorian Government for four years, developing communication strategies and delivering health-related advertising and public relations campaigns. Prior to working in government, Matt worked in film and video production, producing training and promotional programs.

Matt edits extensively for publishers John Wiley & Sons (Wrightbooks) and Elsevier Australia (Churchill Livingstone). Working on university-level textbooks has given Matt excellent technical skills in structure and referencing.
Matt edits for a variety of corporate and government clients (see client list) working on policy documents, annual reports, marketing materials and online content. His skills include copyediting, structural editing, project editing and proofreading.

Matt is the author of 100 Simple Tips: First Time Parenting (Jo Jo Publishing) and has ghostwritten seven self-help business books, primarily for John Wiley & Sons. His first novel, ThisThing of Darkness, will be published by Scholastic Australia in mid-2018.
Matt has been writing copy for the corporate and government sectors for more than 14 years, producing brochures, fact sheets, annual reports and website copy.
Matt has written more than 100 articles that have been published online, primarily for the health sector.
